Out and About in the City

Out and About in the City

And, of course, we are only a short distance from one of Europe's most spectacular capitol cities with all it has to offer culturally, artistically, musically and socially.

Outdoor Weekend

Outdoor Weekend

Early in the year we take a trip into the Spanish wilderness to try things we have never done before. Mountain Biking, Canoeing and Canyoning have been the last few..... what to do next year?

Halloween

Halloween

A chance for the students to dress up and try to look more frightening than the teachers!

Sumer BBQ

Sumer BBQ

Another event is the summer BBQ. For this one we just invite friends rather than teachers and we use the garden outside. It goes on late into the night with music and deserts after all of the meat.

Warner Brothers Park

Warner Brothers Park

At the end of the year we take a trip to Madrid's largest amusement park (there is another in the city that we visit next to the zoo).

Segovia Trip

Segovia Trip

Segovia, one of the more beautiful Roman cities in Spain, is only 50 minutes away from us through the mountains. I think it has the most beautiful Plaza Mayor with a Cathedral and Theater on two of the sides and the Castle is apparently the one that inspired Walt Disney.

Dinner After Prizegiving

Dinner After Prizegiving

Dinner in our dining room. This night we were celebrating Jackie winning the Year 9 Prize for Effort.

Olivia's Project

Olivia's Project

Olivia wanted something to do in project week but she did not want to go on the school trip to Teneriffe.... so she persuaded me to to her a small budget and she used it to decorate the girls common room. Just imagine the room as an extension of her smock. It works.

Decorating the Tree

Decorating the Tree

Cathy and Olivia took charge of the tree decoration, once James, Ferdi and Pedro had put the thing together (we love trees and don't want to kill any). The tree gets moved to the Christmas party where we put the Secret Santa presents that get distributed by a returning student.

Some of the girls at Christmas

Some of the girls at Christmas

This was at the reception for our Christmas dinner. Each year the students in the house invite their teachers for dinner to say thank you for all of the effort they put in.
